Amsterdam in 3 days!

thegirlwhotravelst

Due to COVID-19 I haven't been able to do as many of the trips that I had planned this year as I always try to explore new countries every year. When the restaurants started opening in England again my friends and I decided to go for dinner which resulted in us booking a spontaneous trip to Amsterdam. We'd all been to Amsterdam before but we had been saying for a while that we should all go together. We saw EasyJet flights for £40 return and that was that.

We booked a flight to leave London Luton on the Sunday and arrived in Amsterdam for about 2pm which meant that we were able to have the full afternoon.

A massive thank you to Clink Hostels who hosted us in their Clink Noord hostel. The hostel was in a great location in Amsterdam Noord and is located near the A'dam tower. The hostel used to be a laboratory in the 1920s and the hostel have kept parts of this interior which makes it a unique and fun stay. From Central Station you can get a free ferry (yes completely free) over to the noord side and it runs 24 hours.

After we checked in we then went to the Anne Frank Museum. A good point to make is that you should book your tickets for the museum in advance as the tickets sell out quickly and this will avoid disappointment. It is important to make sure that you get to the museum in good time before your allocated time slot as there always tends to be big queues. Located next to the museum is Pancakes Amsterdam. They do the most amazing pancakes, both savoury and sweet. We enjoyed them so much that we may have gone their twice on our trip.. After our pancakes we then visited the Heineken Experience. Again I would recommend getting your tickets in advance. On the experience you get to try lots of beer which is a highlight for any beer lover!

The next day we explored Amsterdam Noord. We ate at a sea food restaurant called Stork which is situated in an old industrial loft at bussinespark De Overkant, the former Stork factory. The interior is still the same as it was with a few moderations and the food was amazing! They also have other meat options if you're not a massive fan of seafood so there's something for everyone. After the restaurant we then went to Vondelpark where we relaxed in the sunshine. In the park they have a restaurant called Brouwerijtij that serves food and drinks. On the second day you could also visit the Rijksmuseum if you have time as I have visited here before and it's definitely worth a visit.

On the last day I have to admit we were a bit fancy and decided to hire a motor boat for a couple of hours. We used the company Mokumboot for this and the boat was €95 for two hours. You can book online or phone ahead to reserve a boat. Before going on our boat we popped to the supermarket to get some nibbles and wine for the boat (what a genius idea I hear you say). We were so lucky that the sun was shining! It was such an amazing way to see the city via the canals!
